Endodontics
Constant pain on the warm or cold or bite pain, may indicate on inflammation of the dental nerve. Delaying a visit to the dentist can lead to major complications.
Feeling severe toothache, swelling, and intense sensitivity to warm and cold?
The X-ray will identify the inflammation, how many teeth the duct has, and whether additional surgery (eg apicotomy) may be needed in addition to endodontic treatment.
At Dental Center Ostojić we use only machine endodontics that are faster, more accurate and give better results.
Endodontics
Endodontics is a branch of dentistry concerned with treating the ailing dental pulp. Inflammation of the pulp can be caused by an extensive spreading of the cavity, it penetrates through the enamel and dentine and reaches the pulp, causing pulpitis. The symptoms are strong toothache, swelling and strong sensitivity to warm and cold. If the mentioned symptoms appear, the dentist shall decide to make an X-ray image and then decide the severity of the inflammation. The inflammation, how many canals does the tooth have will all be located on the X-ray image and whether, eventually, besides a root canal treatment, additional surgical procedures are necessary (e.g., apicoectomy). The dentist decides whether the treatment will be immediate by closing the tooth with a filling or a crown (depending on the defect of the upper tooth part) or if (a) canal(s) will be cleaned, the medicine put and the filling finished at the second appointment. Here at Dental centre Ostojić, we exclusively use electrical endodontics that is faster, more precise and provides better results. It is important to fill all canals of the tooth, that is why small RVG images that show the success of a performed endodontic procedure are made after it. If the X-ray image shows that a canal isn’t filled to the top with an alternative substance that prevents the ingression of bacteria, the process shall be repeated until the canal has been filled according to the protocols. There is a possibility of pain lasting for a day or two after the procedure, but after that only pulsating pain can be felt. If the pain doesn’t stop or increases, you should contact your dentist so a cause can be determined.
